The very first time we saw Poppykalas extraordinary painting during the 2025 harvest it still had not been named. But it clearly embodied the entire micro- and macro cosmos of a vineyard. The connection between the vine and the soil, the sky, the sun and all the life in its surroundings. 

At this point it became clear that we needed to make a wine that encapsulated all this. A wine full of life! 

The word Symbiosis is the perfect name. Not only for the painting, but for what it takes to create a beautiful wine. The symbiosis not only between the plant, the soil and it’s surroundings, but also between the human beings that transforms and thus, somehow translates, it’s fruit into a complex beverage. A liquid that goes beyond just being fermented grapes, but somehow embodies the life of the vine and the people that work the land. 

Poppykalas wanted a white wine and it could only be our gorgeous 2025 Viognier from tank 25 that would manage to embody all this energy and life. The 2025 Viognier had this very unique personality to it. A deep richness paired with fruity freshness and lots of complexity. Perfect for the painting! And Tine loved it from the first sip! 

To add in further depth and “spice” we blended in 400l from barrel #85, also pure Viognier, but a blend of vintages 2024 and 2025. So a “marriage” of 2 Viogniers! A wine that bursts with life and energy and embodies that beautiful life force of Mother Nature, that we nurture and protect each and every day out in our vineyards..
