Alaro is finding it's soul...

Alaro is one of our own favorite wines; our summer red wine, to be enjoyed slightly cooled down, with food or without, uncomplicated and delicious!

The base of Alaro is always un-oaked young Grenache, but we always spice it up with a touch of "something" to add a bit more body and complexity. This year it ended up being quite a lot of extra "somethings" ;-)

First we added a barrel of Grenache from the year before (2023), then half a barrel of young Merlot (2024) and finally a tiny tiny touch of the 2022 vintage of the very same wine! Yup, we actually added some 2022 Alaro to vintage 2024 to add an extra layer of "Alaro soul" to this young beautiful wine!

How does Alaro 2024 taste?

Velvety, sweet, enticing… This begs to be enjoyed in big sips while dancing around your garden barefooted! More on that below.
The nose is just so beautifully perfumed. The sweetest wild strawberries, cherries, candied orange peel, blackberry jam, vanilla and blood oranges.
On the palate it’s dangerously addictive. Juicy, vibrant and jut downright delicious. Pure red fruit and ripe orange with a touch of spice and the finest tannins possible. This year’s Alaro is really something… Rounder and more creamy than other years and even more delicious.
The juicy red fruit, sweet-and-sour play and creamy texture is just something of a different level… Enjoy and you’re warned… This should only exist in magnums. A normal bottle is way too small!

How to get the best out of Alaro 2024

First you take off your shoes, be it outside on the lawn, beach or inside, off they go! Then you put on Marvin Gaye (start with Sexual Healing) and take a big sip. Then just let it flow… And if you’re hungry head to the kitchen and make a classic beef carpaccio, or just open a pack of  “duck ham”… dried, yet juicy duck-breast.
This is also your go-to wine for a meze platter with humus, muhammara , falafel, whipped feat and warm pita bread. Uhh, and something with pomme-granate; a tabuleh salad topped with those, definitely!
