The journey

Sa Rateta, one of our always most loved wines... by ourselves and our members.

We just seem to have found a perfect blend here between our dark and polished Syrah and our spicier and fragrant Cabernet.

Sa Rateta is usually one of the wines that is easiest for us to make. It kind of just almost makes itself! With this we mean that the blending process is normally super easy and intuitive. However, this year the blending of Sa Rateta was quite the opposite and we had to do many trials (and discard many errors) before we finally found the magic!

So hang on... here we go!

We first blended all our 2023 Syrah barrels, minus magnificent #74 that just HAD to become a Cloud Wine, #51 and #36 that just did not fit in. Then we added all our (few)  Cabernet barrels, minus #22, #27 and #302 that also did not fit in and needed a longer beauty-sleep in their wooden homes.

How does Sa Rateta 2023 taste?

Lush, dark and mysterious. I could just sniff and sniff this wine for hours. It starts with this intriguing mix of dark berries and ripe oranges, then unfolds with eucalyptus, minty liquorice and even some exotic spice like fennel seeds, cloves and Chinese 5-spice.

On the palate it shows the same incredible complexity and just keeps unfolding on your palate. layers of the most pure and lush dark fruit intertwined with spice and herbal notes. Fascinating! All perfectly bound together by a backbone of velvety tannins and soft, yet present acidity.

How to best enjoy Sa Rateta 2023

This is almost too fascinatingly good to “disturb” with any food. I seriously mean that.. This is the wine you serve together with Tears for Fears, Bryan ferry or Simply Red. Alone, putting on your best dress or suit and just treating yourself to a magical moment! Or when you have that special person around and just want to forget the rest of the world and indulge in pure lust and beauty!

Should you get hungry at some point then think well-aged beef, served bloody, or game. Simple side dishes… Let the wine shine in all its glory .
