The journey

The wine that made us increase the membership package to 8 wines instead of 7! Teix has for the past couple of years not been a part of the yearly packages as we sort of felt it belonged on the island due it's more local taste and style.

Well this vintage made us change that. This wine always contains a rather large proportion of the local hero grape Callet, but as we so correctly always have been told, then Callet needs some years of age before it produces grapes of high quality and interesting aromatic profile. That proved to more than true the first 3 vintages, but wowsie did that just change with the 2023!

We loved the 2023 Callet so much that it almost dominates in the blend. First we focused on the Callet and spiced up a tank with 2500L from 2023 with one 500L barrel from the year before namely barrel #42 and also 500L from a tank (T28) leftover from 2022.

After that the real fun began and we started playing around with our Grenache. We selected 5 barrels of Grenache that fitted marvellously into the Callet; barrels #59, #68, #69, #70, #71. So far so very good! But then we got a great idea and tried adding 125L of Merlot from amazing barrel #76 (that is otherwise destined to become a Cloud Wine) and that beautiful magical liquid just lifted the whole thing up to new heights!

Welcome (back home) to Teix, now all grown up and more handsome than ever!

How does Teix 2023 taste?

Ultra charming nose with lots of sweet wild strawberries, fragrant red apple, ripe blood orange and also orange blossom. This nose is literally SO yummy!

On the palate its light, bright and vibrant at first. Boasting with red berry fruit and also the same delicious orange fruit notes and in the nose.

Juicy and super well balanced with the gentlest of tannins this offers lots of drinking pleasure now.

How to best enjoy Teix 2023

Serve on its own not too warm or with a selection of cold cuts and olives/nuts. Your mid-afternoon glass of wine when you’re in a great mood and the sun is shining, be it outside or in your heart.

If you feel like feeding your body (and soul) with something more substantial then put on Melody Gardot, head to the kitchen and make a baba ganoush and homemade pita breads and you are in heaven. This wine literally yells for any aubergine based dish and would also be great with a ratatouille or even a lighter pasta dish with a tomato based sauce.
