Finally, it's Christmas time and soon the beginning of a new year.
We are really looking forward to 2022, where we will inaugurate our new winery and for the first time make wine in the state-of-the-art facilities. And then of course welcome you our BiniVista Family members inside our amazing new home.
Before we embark on the exciting journey that 2022 for sure will be, we would like to take a moment to reflect back on a 2021 that has been both fun, challenging and busy!
This year we launched BiniVista Family. The goal was to reach approx. 300 members, as our 2020 harvest provided us with enough grapes to deliver wine packages to approx. 350 members. We are happy to have reached this goal! We are currently around 300 members, all of whom have received our two 2020 wine packages.
We want to thank you all for your support and promise that we will do everything to live up to the trust placed in us. We promise you an exciting journey with fantastic experiences and many great wines!
Nevertheless, we have little time to rest on our laurels, as this year gave us a both good and big harvest and thus, we have enough wine to increase the number of members to approx. 550. Since we want to be one big family, we hope that you want to act as ambassadors for BiniVista and help us find our new family members.
This year we produced the first 7 wines in our own winery. (The renovated old building).
In spring we bottled 1 rosé wine and 2 white wines, which you received in the Spring wine package (Batch # 1) and in November we bottled 4 red wines (Batch # 2), which you received here in December, just in time to put on the Christmas table.
We are very pleased with all these wines, and incredibly thankful for all the positive feedback we have received from you. Our vines are still very young, but the thorough work in the vineyards and the winery has truly paid off, and we feel confident that this is only the beginning and that this incredible journey has only just begun.
You can read more about the wines here:
As mentioned, we had a good 2021 harvest overall. From August 9 to September 16, we harvested approx. 80,000 kg, the double compared to 2020.
Our rosé wine and white wines are currently maturing in steel tanks and will be ready for bottling in 2-3 months. The approx. 20,000 liters of red wine are safely resting in oak barrels and will not be ready for bottling until next autumn. All the wines taste absolutely fantastic and you can already start looking forward!
A lot has happened also within the team in 2021. One of our original partners, Jaume Fullana, has chosen to seek new challenges, and the circle of partners is now Marie, Joan and Søren. Additionally, during summer we hired Julia as winemaker. Julia is from Germany but has lived and worked on Mallorca as an oenologist for more than 10 years. Julia's combination of experience from wine production on Mallorca and her roots in German wine culture fits well with our philosophy and the way we want to make wine.
Furthermore, we have our permanent team of employees in place - who take care of our dear vines every single day - consisting of Xisco, Ahmed, Eduardo, Alejandro, Pedro and our Danish agricultural trainee Jesper.
After more than 3 years of waiting, we were finally able to start the construction of our new large, state-of-the-art winery in January. There is still some way to go until we are done, but we have come very far and still expect to be ready in June, and thus ready for the 2022 harvest as planned.
We have chosen to go "all in" in terms of interior design of the winery. This means that the production facilities are 100% optimal to make wine of the highest possible quality. We are all very much looking forward to welcoming you at the new winery.
We are also nearing completion of the first Finca, and hopefully the keys will be handed over to one of our members on April 1, 2022.
In January, we will decide whether we start building another 4 Fincas, which will also be offered for sale to you, our members.
This year we have not organized many events. This was partly due to the pandemic, but also the fact that we do not have the new winery available just yet. We will make sure to make fully up for this in 2022!
In 2021, however, we have luckily had the opportunity to meet many of you anyhow. Both on the island and in Denmark, which has been nice. In 2022, we are looking very much forward to welcoming you to our big Grand Opening, which we expect to celebrate on 30/7 2022 (the date is not final, but please put a note in the agenda already now). As soon as our event calendar is updated, you will of course be notified of this.
We have also spent 2021 forming new partnerships that will help bring extra value to the membership, including wine glasses, art, bicycle equipment, interior design, etc.
You will hear much more about this before long.
Buying more wine
As you know, your membership includes the delivery of a minimum of 42 bottles of wine. Basically 7 different wines divided into two annual wine packages. Every year we keep a certain amount of wine back, so you have the opportunity to buy more of the individual wines- and thus get your hands on a little more white wine or a box more of your favorite red. You can go to the website (log in) at any time and order more wine.
Wine deliveries 2022
Also, in 2022 you will receive 2 wine packages. A spring package with 1 rosé wine, 2 white wines and a red wine (Batch # 3) and an autumn package with 3 red wines (Batch # 4). Members of BiniVista “Business Network” will receive an invoice mid-January, whereas BFV members, just like this year, will pay for the wine packages in connection with delivery.
