The harvest is fast approaching.

Even though we are only in the middle of July, we actually expect to harvest in about 10 days. Traditionally, the harvest in Mallorca starts in mid-August and ends at the end of September, but every year we have started the harvest approx. 14 days before most of the others, i.e. around August 1st and already finished the harvest in the first week of September. This year we will most likely start the harvest even earlier.

It is difficult to explain this, and a general reference to climate change is too simplistic.

The main explanation, however, is probably that we had a mild winter and the flowering happened somewhat earlier than usually this year. However, we have (fortunately) not had extreme heat yet (currently around 30° during the day and only around 20° at night).

So far the harvest looks really good, and in general our plants have produced a lot of grapes, so we have had to thin out (green harvest) many bunches of grapes, thus probably "throwing" about 50% of our grapes on the ground.

This has been necessary to adjust the energy in the plants and thus ensure top quality of the grapes that we end up harvesting. This over-production is due, among other things, to the fact that our plants are still relatively young. When we remove bunches, we get a balanced yield and ensure optimal ripening conditions for the selected bunches.

We will probably keep you updated when the harvest starts.

 Our "Winemaker's wine"

In June, we had visitors from the other side of the Atlantic, when Peter Work was visiting again to taste the wine he made here last August - our first "Winemaker's wine". The wine is still in 300 and 500 liter oak barrels, and although we were all extremely impressed by the quality, Peter came to the conclusion that the wine should continue to age for another 6-12 months in barrel. So you must continue to arm yourself with patience.

 Events

We have already organized a number of events this year, including our Easter art exhibition, cycling day and golf event.

Remember that our Harvest Party, which is always the highlight of the year, is held on 28th of September - you can register HERE.

 Winter wines

When we sent out our winter wine package in December, we pointed out that the wines benefit from maturing a little in the bottle. In connection with the team recently all being together to taste our 2023 red wines, which are currently maturing in barrels, we also tasted through all our 2022 wines – and wow! – they are all ready now, and you should especially look forward to our new 157° Randa (Pinot Noir), which clearly surpasses the 2021 vintage in quality (which we were already incredibly happy about).

Before long we will share tasting videos of all 4 winter wines, and if you have already drunk the wines or never ordered them, this can still be done HERE

 Member's max

As we announced a few weeks ago, we have reached our member's maximum of 1,000 members, and currently we actually have 1,036 members. Since membership requires that you buy the 2 annual wine packages, we expect that we still lack 100-200 members, as some of the existing members have not yet ordered the latest Spring wine package.

You can still do it, and please note that if you have not yet ordered by the end of August, your membership will be automatically deleted.

You can order the Spring wine package Batch#7 HERE.

 Restaurants

Since we have chosen to limit the number of members to 1,000, we already have wine in "surplus", and it has always been planned that we would like to have our wines available in selected restaurants and hotels. This year we started with Mallorca, and so far we have collaborated with approx. 50 restaurants/hotels, and you can e.g. find our wines here: CAN Boqueta, El Atelier Vandal, LIO, Forn de Sant Joan, Fusion 19, Katagi Blau, Mare Nostrum, NOS, Pura Beach, KOA, MOLA, NOVA del Mar, Sa Fumata, Vandal, Ritzi, LivingDreams, Cabra Blanca, Lindner Hotel, Hotel Esplendido, Hotel Portixol, Four Seasons Formentor.

 WINE BAR

You can also find our wines at a new wine bar in Santa Catalina, Palma, where we have created a wine bar in collaboration with restaurant Mola under the name MAS Mola / BiniVista and friends. In addition to our wines, delicious tapas are also served, which have been developed especially for our wines.

 Art and wine

We still have a selection of very beautiful art at the winery and it is possible to buy paintings from Kirsa Andreasen's Easter exhibition and last year's artist Peter Skovgaard.

You can also buy the annual art poster or lithograph.

It can be ordered HERE

You should also not cheat yourself for our annual art wine - Kirsa Andreasen's delicious rosé wine - of course adorned with the year's artwork.

The wine can be ordered HERE.

 Visit to the vineyard

As always, we have weekly tours of the winery, and you are always welcome to join.

Write to us at info@binivista.com and get more info. And as a member, you are of course also always welcome to stop by, but it is always best if you write in advance.
